Richard Hughes close to enormous Liverpool agreement

Liverpool are closing in on a huge agreement as Richard Hughes looks to pull off a genius move.

Even though it doesn’t feel like it on the pitch at the moment, Liverpool are in a great place.

The backroom staff is better than ever. In Hughes they have one of the most competent sporting directors in the world. Behind him Michael Edwards, who doesn’t need to be introduced, provides an important backbone.

Together they are working on building a dynasty at Liverpool. This will mean that sometimes results will take a while to click into gear.

After all, it’s unfair to expect Liverpool to perform at the highest level when they had six or seven never players come into the team all in one window.

This will take time. Ultimately, we are not going to see the very best version of this Liverpool side until later.

But one very positive sign in Liverpool building for the future is that Hughes and Edwards are not just looking at who they could bring in but also who they could tie down for the future.

Among the most important of those decisions is the future of Liverpool’s midfield.

Liverpool are currently trying to tie down Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai. Both of them have been important pillars in the club’s success and both are in their prime years.

Making sure they are on long-term deals is going to very important for the future of the club. It’s an enormous boost, if Hughes can agree to both of them signing new deals.

And it looks like one enormous boost is on the verge of an agreement.

According to Nicolo Schira, Gravenberch is getting closer and closer to agree his new deal with the club.

The contract would last until 2030 or 2031, which means he’d be spending the majority of his career at Anfield.

This would be a massive moment. It looks like it’s one down, and one more to go.

But the fact that Hughes is already thinking this proactively is a really encouraging sign. You don’t want players to be running down their contracts.
