New 89-goal striker is coming to Liverpool as Reds find sensation

There's an exciting attacker who is going to be heading to Liverpool's first-team soon.

Let's face it, these last few months have been difficult for Arne Slot. First Alexander Isak's injury has not made things easy for the Dutchman.

Slot has had to rely on Hugo Ekitike and at times use Cody Gakpo or Federico Chiesa out of position. Even the back-up academy forwards during this time have been injured. Jayden Danns is yet to come back from the knock he suffered earlier on in the season.

Will Wright is still just coming back and only now hitting his peak levels while still getting to grips with playing week in, week out at U21 level.

And then just as Isak came back, Ekitike got injured. Now Slot has another headache he has to deal with because the Frenchman likely won't be back until 2027.

Thankfully, there is cavalry on the way from the club's academy and in the next few years this problem might become a thing of the past.

For a brief moment, Liverpool were elite at producing forwards in the 1990s.

In the space of a few years Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen both walked through the ranks at the Kirkby academy centre and blew the first-team away.

They have become iconic names in English football, and iconic names in the history of the club.

But they have also become Liverpool's only forward academy graduates who have really made it.

Since then the likes of Adam Morgan, Krisztian Nemeth, Jerome Sinclair and Rhian Brewster have come close but none of them have been able to live up to their prolific nature at academy level.

This striker academy curse seems to have hit everyone who has come through the ranks but it might be coming to an end very soon.

There are multiple talented forwards coming through at Kirkby, including Josh Sonni-Lambie and Vincent Joseph.

However, the most exciting name by far is Harrison O'Brien.

He is attracting a lot of attention lately for Liverpool's academy. He scored a hat-trick in the U15 Merseyside Cup against Ferencvaros earlier this season and he just scored another hat-trick in the final of the U15 Premier League Cup to help Liverpool's U15 side win the tournament.

If that wasn't enough, he's also scored a double hat-trick this season.

He netted six goals in Liverpool's U15 side's 7-1 victory over Stoke City.

In total he has 89 goal contributions, having scored 64 goals and registered 24 assists this season. Those are remarkable numbers and it's seen him compared to Erling Haaland.

What's impressive that O'Brien's goals are not all the same. He's got a nice range, capable of scoring from long distance and from short distances. He's quick, powerful and deadly in front of goal in and around the box. He doesn't rely on one technique in many ways he is already quite complete.

On top of that he is an industrious forward who can also play on the wing and works really hard.

He's still very young but he's on the cusp of making his debut for the U18s at academy level and very soon he will be coming to the first-team, too.
