Meet Jason William, Liverpool's next super talent

Jason William is next in line at Liverpool.

The club has a tradition of developing elite wingers. This stems all the way back to Raheem Sterling to Rio Ngumoha and Joshua Abe in more recent times.

But in between that, Liverpool also brought through the likes of Ben Doak, Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and many others.

The latest big talent in line to make a breakthrough after Abe on the wings is Jason William.

Only 15-years-old, he was signed by the Reds less than two years ago, arriving from Bolton Wanderers' academy, where he caught the eye.

William has since been making a gradual breakthrough and rising up the ranks at the AXA training centre. He initially joined Liverpool's U14 team and next season he's set to be involved with the U16 team.

However, it won't be long until he is involved with the U18s, especially because there is a real lack of depth on the flanks in the U18 team next season - with Liverpool likely losing Abe to the U21s and Isaac Konde joining Manchester United in a surprise move.

William has competed at the U15 Pape Cup for Liverpool this year, which is a religious prestigious indoor tournament that takes place every year in Germany.

But his biggest exposure so far has come in the J.League select international game between Liverpool and an U16 Japanese side selected from J.League academies.

The game took place in Tokyo, and it was two 80 minutes matches played last week.

William started both games and played around 100 minutes. In that time he completed 16 dribble attempts, won a penalty and provided the assist for Liverpool's only goal in the two matches.

It wasn't a perfect performance from Liverpool across the two games. The J.League select side won the first game, and then won the second game on penalties as well with Ren Isobe scoring in both of the two matches.

However, William was absolutely the stand-out performer in these matches.

Very quick and direct, he caused so many problems for the Japanese defence. The way he drove past opponents and also regularly created chances for his teammates was very impressive.

Watching the games, one will have been thinking if only Mo Salah had left the club a few years later rather than this summer than in William and Abe, Liverpool would have two really outstanding right-winger prospects.

But as luck would have it Liverpool are going to have to wait a little while until he is starting to light it up at Anfield.

Whether he's got the talent to do it though is no question.

There are very few wingers of his ilk who have come through Liverpool's academy and not quite made it. William's one vs one ability is already top tier.

Although there is no denying there will be tales of caution. Jordon Ibe and Sheyi Ojo are two examples, whose careers were hampered by injury set-backs.

William is still very young but recently Liverpool have been promoting players at a much younger age. We've seen 16-year-old Erik Farkas training with the first-team. Abe made his debut after just turning 16-years-old earlier this month, the same was true for Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.

And Lucas Eden is already training with the U21s, in front of Andoni Iraola.

That is why you should be keeping a close eye on William because he could easily be the next one up. Based on his performances in Tokyo, you'll be hearing a lot more about him in the years to come.
