A teenage sensation from Manchester City has confirmed he's now joining arch rivals Liverpool.

There has been a really competitive rivalry between the two clubs over the course of the last decade. From Brendan Rodgers' time competing against City for the title to the constant games under Jurgen Klopp and some famous Champions League nights.

Liverpool and Manchester City have battled for supremacy over and over again.

At this moment in time, it feels like the Reds are on top. However, with a manager like Pep Guardiola that feeling can be very fleeting. After all, he's one of the most successful managers of the modern era.

No team under his leadership can be underestimated.

One area where City will want to develop though is the use of their academy. Over the course of the last few years, there haven't been many players to have earned promotion to the first-team.

There are some rare examples like Rico Lewis and Phil Foden but in general a lot of Manchester City products like Jadon Sancho, Liam Delap and Jeremie Frimpong have made their names and played their best football elsewhere.

The opposite is the case for Liverpool where the club regularly looks to promote talent from within. That's why the first-team has the likes of Conor Bradley, Curtis Jones, Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni at the moment.

There's others following suit and it's clear there is a pathway for young players at Anfield, which is why City players are probably flocking to join the club's academy at the moment.

Earlier this year, Lucas Alford joined from City to link-up with the club's U15 side. Last season, Lucas Clarke was also snatched from City's academy and he now plays for the U18s.

There's another talented player to add to that list. City's U15 teenage sensation Alfie Dooley has confirmed on his Instagram page that he's going to be linking up with the Reds.

Dooley signs for Liverpool as a goalkeeper, having spent nine years at Manchester City. In that time, he's won back-to-back International Premier League tournaments at U13 and U12 level and he's been regarded as one of the club's top up and coming goalkeepers.

If anything, City are known for producing elite goalkeepers. Joe Hart, James Trafford and Kasper Schmeichel all developed at the club's academy.

But Dooley will have seen a better pathway for himself at Liverpool, who also has a great track record with goalkeepers at the moment.

Just take a look at how far Peter Gulacsi and Kamil Grabara have gone in their careers. Or Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaros, who is now a no.1 goalkeeper at Ajax.

Dooley is another coup for Liverpool from their rivals and he's a name to keep an eye on in the coming years.

You get nothing but the fringe players who understand that there are many other youth ahead of them in the pecking order. The fact we produce far more talent than you lot means we sell far more talent than you and are capable of losing youth without any consequence at all. We’ve not lost a single potentially world class youth player that has gone on to become world class. Chelsea’s Cole was not a loss, he wanted to leave so we sold him for a massive profit. We had Haaland the worlds best Striker who’s in his prime so could afford to let him go, that’s how strong our academy is, Liverpool can not say the same.
