Liverpool's AGREED Andy Robertson price is simply ridiculous
Liverpool have agreed a price with Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of Andy Robertson. But it's a ridiculous one.
It seems likely that Andy Robertson will sign for Tottenham Hotspur. Though, admittedly, not as likely as it did before the weekend.
Reports broke last week that Spurs wanted to sign the Scot and that Liverpool were on board. However, Robertson was then needed against Bournemouth and Sunday saw denials that the Reds were going to let this happen.
It’s a complicated situation, given the player is out of contract this summer. Liverpool will lose him for nothing, renew his deal, or sell now. Those are the three options - and all will feel somewhat controversial.
The feeling now is that Liverpool will let Robertson leave if they can get Kostas Tsimikas back from AS Roma. That depends on Roma’s ability to sign a new left-back before the deadline, though.
And even then, this isn’t a deal Liverpool should be making. Not at this price.

Two valuations are made whenever a transfer is suggested. There's the player's current value to the selling club and then his potential value to the buying club.
When these figures align - and the player is on board - you've got yourself a transfer. Journalist Ben Jacobs suggests the agreed upon value for Robertson to join Tottenham is around £5m plus add-ons.
Now, we don't question for a second that this value is worth it for Spurs. They get a new left-back at a time when they need one, avoid competition for his signature in the summer and significantly boost the experience in their squad.
Getting that for £5m is a steal, quite honestly.
But how on earth do Liverpool decide that the £5m is worth it to them? They would limit themselves at left-back at a time when they could use the squad depth - as we saw on Saturday.
Liverpool would be worse off if Tsimikas is the player coming on in that situation. We know that because Roma are more than happy to cut his loan short as they're not actually using him.
There's also a reason why the Reds were willing to get rid of Tsimikas in the summer. In fact, they tried to sell him - it's only because he wanted a short-term move that this is even an option.
And Liverpool are doing this at a time when squad depth is already low, especially in defence. They're also in rotten form and have been for months, with a serious chance of missing out on UEFA Champions League football for next season.
Why would you risk letting go of your vice-captain and a hugely experienced player - and again, one you needed literally days ago - for £5m? Boosting your chances of finishing in the top five is comfortably worth that amount and keeping Robertson is essentially the same as boosting those chances.
No one would weaken those chances for £5m, in other words. And yet that's exactly what Liverpool plan to do.
