Liverpool are reportedly interested in making a move for a player following in Darwin Nunez's footsteps.

The Uruguayan hasn't quite hit the world alight in a Liverpool shirt so far. His future at Anfield hangs in the balance.

But no matter what happens, none of us can say Nunez didn't make it at the club for a lack of effort of trying.

Despite his mishaps on the pitch, Nunez came back again and again and he gave it his all every minute he was on the field.

He is a fighter, and someone who never gives up. At times, Nunez has been brilliant to watch. Other times not so much.

If he stays at Liverpool, we are ready to continue supporting him and backing him to succeed. If he moves elsewhere, we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours.

The most important thing is that Nunez makes that decision himself. After the terrible tragedy that occurred last week which saw Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva sadly pass away, Nunez should now be given the space and the time to come to his own decision.

And whatever he wants to do, the club and the fans must support it.

Liverpool do want to strengthen in the striker position. They have already added Florian Wirtz to bolster Arne Slot's options and they have identified Alexander Isak as a top target.

Whether the Reds can pull off the latter remains to be seen. Newcastle will be difficult to negotiate a deal with and they will demand a lot of money for Isak.

But it seems like Liverpool already have alternatives. In fact according to A Bola, the Reds are one of the clubs monitoring Luis Suarez.

Yes, you heard that right. Luis Suarez.

But it's not that Luis Suarez, it's Luis Suarez from Almeria.

This Luis Suarez is a Colombian international, and he has made 39 goal contributions in 43 games for Almeria. Those are impressive numbers. Although it's important to caveat, Suarez made these goal contributions in Spain's second-tier, rather than the first.

Nonetheless, he seems like a prolific forward. Someone with a great track-record of scoring goals.

And if he were to join Liverpool, he'd be following in Nunez's footsteps. That's because the Uruguayan also played for Almeria, and that's where he initially caught other big clubs' attention.

He moved to Benfica after that and the rest is history. Liverpool had to pay a huge fee to sign him from the Portuguese club.

Maybe this time around, Liverpool want to avoid doing the same and they figured going directly to Almeria will save them a lot of money.

Seeing another Suarez at Anfield in the Liverpool shirt will be surreal to say the least. At this stage, it doesn't feel like a move is imminent but it's one to keep an eye on.
