Liverpool suspect their ultimate replacement for Luis Diaz has arrived in the Premier League. Only, not for them.

Luis Diaz's future is up in the air. The Colombian is reportedly pushing for a move to either Barcelona or Bayern Munich right now, with both clubs having made verbal offers.

Anfield Watch understands both offers were rejected very, very quickly, however. They weren't anywhere near what Liverpool would want to let go of one of their key players.

But that doesn't mean this one is over. Diaz will reportedly make a transfer request, if he hasn't already, and attempt to force something to happen.

Liverpool may ultimately decide it's not worth the trouble to keep the forward, especially if they have the right option to replace him. That 'right option' isn't exactly clear, though, with prices sky-high at the moment.

One player who ultimately could replace Diaz, though, just joined the Premier League.

Liverpool watch Chemsdine Talbi

Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool are big fans of Chemsdine Talbi and plan to watch him intently over the coming season. Talbi has just signed for Sunderland from Club Brugge for around £20m.

The Moroccan international is a winger who can operate on both flanks, though usually from the right. He would be well-positioned to take up Diaz's spot as a versatile forward who can be moved across the line, essentially.

The 20-year-old Talbi is expected to make some sort of impact in the Premier League this season, despite his inexperience. It's firmly one of those where the Reds will want to take advantage of a relegation, admittedly, with Sunderland favourites for the drop to kick off the campaign.

Regardless, Liverpool will watch and weigh up a move. It's similar to what they did with Sadio Mane, rating a young winger highly but wanting to see him take a step up before cementing that interest.

So we'd recommend Liverpool fans keep an eye on Talbi this season. No, there's no deal close and the club certainly aren't making contact anytime soon.

But they rate him. If Talbi has a successful debut campaign in England, he could ultimately be the one to replace Diaz as the Reds struggle to find the right winger this summer.

Rest in peace, Diogo Jota.
