The Reds aim to strike a deal with Bayer Leverkusen shortly. That would hopefully be for a fair but short of the €150m asking price.

Admittedly, every day without a major update on that suggests Liverpool may just need to meet that price. But we'll see.

The Reds hope to bring in another player during this short transfer window, however. Milos Kerkez is the one - and Fabrizio Romano has an update.

Milos Kerkez to Liverpool

Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to make one thing very clear - Milos Kerkez is incredibly close to joining Liverpool. The Reds appear to be just one step away from a deal here.

"Liverpool are prepared to seal Milos Kerkez deal with one more round of talks to get it over the line!," writes Romano.

"Bournemouth and Liverpool are finalizing the agreement after personal terms in place last week.

"Here we go, soon."

This one is just a matter of time, then. Liverpool agreed personal terms with Kerkez last week and it's just about agreeing on a fee with Bournemouth.

Caoimhin Kelleher's move to Brentford this week gives them a little more flexibility there - something they desperately need with the size of Wirtz's fee. We could now get news on Kerkez before the day is out.

And this has been a long time coming. Anfield Watch exclusively reported all the way back in November that there had been initial discussions about Kerkez to Liverpool.

Now we're finally seeing it all come to fruition. Liverpool's new left-back will be the Hungarian.
