Liverpool ready to take advantage as press TURN on Real Madrid star
The press in Spain appear to have turned on one Real Madrid star. Liverpool are reportedly ready to take advantage of the situation.
The fallout from Liverpool's 1-0 win over Real Madrid has been great to watch. The Reds put in arguably their best performance of 2025 to see off the visitors, controlling the game for the vast majority of the 90 minutes.
Liverpool's players have been hailed in all quarters, naturally. Conor Bradley has received particular praise and rightfully so - this felt like his arrival on the grandest stage.
As for Real Madrid, things have not been as positive. The only player to come away from Anfield with any sort of positive talk was Thibaut Courtois - hardly a good sign for the rest of the team.
The Belgian was once again extraordinary against Liverpool. His eight saves were the second-most he's ever made in a UEFA Champions League fixture.
The most, nine, came in that final against Liverpool in 2022. He's a thorn in their side, to say the least.
Other Real Madrid players have received criticism and not necessarily for a poor performance. Instead, there are doubts over how they fit into Xabi Alonso's plans now that he's taken over at the club.
And that's something Liverpool can actually take advantage of.
Eduardo Camavinga's future
Itās been reported already this season that Real Madrid arenāt sure what to do with Eduardo Camavinga. Liverpool are reportedly watching the situation, say TBR, as they look to land a player theyāve chased for a very long time.
Camavinga was heavily linked with Liverpool back when he was at Rennes, though he ultimately chose the move to Real Madrid. He hasnāt entirely succeeded there, though, and the Frenchman isnāt considered a star of the team in the way other players are.
Thatās now been highlighted in Defensa Central after the defeat to Liverpool. Theyāre pointing out the real doubts over Camavingaās place in this Real Madrid squad and whether heās actually the kind of player Alonso needs.
He started the game at Anfield in a right-midfield role and never truly looked comfortable. Alonso said he wanted to use Camavinga in that role in order to āfreeā Kylian Mbappe a little more - but thatās surely not the kind of role Camavinga wants.
Or that Real Madrid want there, in fact. The pressure really does seem to be mounting on the midfielder as more and more believe heās the wrong fit.
Itās something Liverpool can absolutely use to their advantage as they seek to finally land Camavinga. Ironically, his poor performance at Anfield could end up being exactly what sends him there.
