Liverpool to deliver Real Madrid BLOW with early offer for captain fantastic

Liverpool intend to deliver a blow to Real Madrid as they prepare an early offer for one star. The Reds don't want to wait around.

Liverpool have a lot of planning to do if they’re to correct their centre-back options. Things aren’t exactly clear right now thanks to a series of unfortunate events.

Of course, Giovanni Leoni’s awful knee injury is at the top of that. He was supposed to be the fourth centre-back this season, potentially moving up to third or even second.

Instead, an injury on his debut ruled him out for the season. Liverpool now need to correct that issue as they’re currently low on options.

And things could get worse. Ibrahima Konate’s contract expires at the end of the season, with Real Madrid hoping to sign him.

Then there’s Joe Gomez, someone who Liverpool were ready to sell back in August. His future doesn’t look solid right now and the club clearly want to move on.

Liverpool's Marc Guehi pursuit

The plan was to have Marc Guehi as a Liverpool player right now, of course. That deal collapsed right at the end of the transfer window, however, and now the situation is complex.

Guehi's contract expires at the end of the season and interest in him is massive as a result. Pretty much every major European club is now chasing him - a situation that makes it difficult for everyone.

There can only be one winner, after all.

Liverpool, though, plan on beating the likes of Real Madrid to the punch. That's according to Sport, who say a January bid is on the way - despite plenty of reports saying the Reds won't do that.

The Leoni injury has surely changed things. Liverpool may have wanted to wait but there's now plenty of extra value in signing Guehi early and paying a fee for an extra few months of football.

Real Madrid, who also want Konate, will hope to wait for the summer and grab Guehi for free. Liverpool plan on ending that plan and making it so Los Blancos have no one to wait for.
