Liverpool line up £60m move for IDEAL Nunez upgrade

Liverpool have a lot of strikers on their radar right now and keeping an eye on all of the developments for each one is proving to be a struggle until the shortlist is narrowed down.

It looked for all the world that a £100m+ move for a new No. 9 was the Reds' priority this summer, but recent developments in a potentially opportunistic deal for Florian Wirtz have stalled proceedings.

The basic necessities of a new left-back and a new-right back are still being taken care of, but a new playmaker was not on the list, although Wirtz is capable of playing a whole range of different roles.

For the time being, it still feels likely that a striker is on the shopping list, although the amount of budget left for the club to sign one is likely to be less than we originally thought.

As such, an approach for Joao Pedro would make the most sense. He would be perfect for Liverpool.

The ideal Darwin Nunez replacement

We have been linked to Pedro before, but the latest update from Rob Dorsett at Sky Sports News makes for interesting reading as his situation has changed since we last reported on him.

Chelsea were seen to be really keen on him, although the player's thoughts were previously unknown. However, the latest report claims the Brazilian forward is keen to talk to the London Blues if a fee can be agreed with Brighton.

No bids are said to have been made yet, but around £60m is likely to be the magic number for him.

As such, Liverpool and Manchester United who are 'keen' on him, will still fancy their chances.

Despite him scoring 10 goals less than last season's campaign for the Seagulls, he has 17 goal contributions to show for his campaign - which includes seven assists.

His linkup play with wingers Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh has been on show more often this time around, and his adapted game makes him a far more polished player for Liverpool to consider.

In a sense, he has a bit of Roberto Firmino about him, opting to drop deep occasionally to be involves in the build-up to goals, alongside finishing off chances when they fall his way.

The £60m move is far more reasonable given Liverpool's new-found circumstances in the transfer market and the signs are extremely promising for the player who is still just 23 years old.

His familiarity with English football is a massive positive compared to someone who might have to get to grips with playing in a new league and Arne Slot's project would be an ideal fit for him.

Of course, Chelsea will likely have first grabs on him, and while Liverpool are assessing the different options on their shortlist, we could easily miss out, but if he remains available as the summer progresses then it is plausible that the Reds could pounce if their interest remains in a months time.
