Liverpool star’s career now OVER after fresh injury issue

Liverpool have struggled with injuries throughout the season, and for one player, this could now be the end of the road.

The Reds' season has not exactly gone to plan, with their title defence over very early on, and their focus now being on the Champions League and FA Cup for silverware.

If they are to win either of these, though, they will need all the help they can get from their talented squad of players, meaning everyone has a role to play.

However, injuries have been an issue for Arne Slot this season and he has not been able to rely on all of his stars, with there being one in particular who he will have become increasingly frustrated with.

It may seem harsh given that he has been available a lot throughout the campaign, but given everything that has happened to him since being at the club, it has to be time to move him on.

Liverpool must sell Federico Chiesa after latest injury setback

Federico Chiesa is a much-loved figure at Anfield despite barely kicking a football for the Reds, with his career for the past few years being plagued with injuries.

He has been fit this season, however, but has still not managed to be trusted with many minutes under Slot, suggesting he really is not part of the Dutchman's plans.

And now, after injuring himself in the warm-up ahead of Liverpool's Champions League game against Marseille, it might just be a sign that it was never meant to be for the Italian and it is time to move on.

Although the injury is not expected to be serious or keep him out for long, he simply cannot be relied on, and with Juventus keen on his signature, cashing in on him might be the best move.

He only cost Liverpool an initial fee of £10m, so he will not provide them with much money at all, but getting him off the wage bill and opening up a vacancy on the wing might help the Reds move forward.

Federico Chiesa needs to leave Liverpool for his own career

As well as Liverpool's patience wearing thin, Chiesa's is likely too and he needs the move just as much as the Reds due to it being a World Cup year.

Gennaro Gattuso, the Italy manager, is a big fan of Chiesa's, but the winger will need to move and get game time if he is to be included in the squad, should they qualify through the playoffs that is.

Juventus seems the best place to go given his existing links with the club, with their still time for him to become an icon in Turin.

It will be a sad day when he does go, but he will always be remembered as a bit of a cult hero, which is strange given how little he has actually contributed.
