Liverpool starlet to be finally handed massive first-team opportunity

Despite picking up several major injuries over the course of the season so far, Liverpool didn’t turn to the market in the winter window.

The most notable of the Reds’ injuries is the broken leg Alexander Isak suffered in December that could see the Swedish striker miss the remainder of the campaign.

Isak arrived to plenty of fanfare for a British record transfer fee in the summer, and the news that Liverpool would be without him for a prolonged period sparked rumours that another forward could be signed in January.

A move for another forward never materialised however, and a forgotten Liverpool star now has the perfect opportunity to earn a place in Arne Slot’s side.

Time for forgotten Liverpool star to step up

Hugo Ekitike is currently Slot’s only available natural striker and, although the Frenchman is doing a fine job, Liverpool would likely feel more comfortable with a recognised back up.

The Reds already have the perfect ready-made option in their ranks, and Slot is well aware of his talent.

Jayden Danns has spent the majority of the season out injured, but a return is reportedly nearing and when he is back fit the head coach feels he is ready for the first team.

“Jayden, if he would have been fit, he would have definitely been in the squad,” Slot told the press before ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Newcastle on Saturday.

“[It] would have been a great moment for him with Alexander Isak being out and the quality he has, he could have been with us and helped us in certain moments.”

There is no exact timeframe on Danns’ return, but everyone at Liverpool will be hopeful he can have an impact in the business end of the season at Anfield.

With the Reds still pushing in both the Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as being embroiled in a battle to finish in the Premier League top four, opportunities are bound to present themselves for Jayden Danns to finally shine at Liverpool.
