The January transfer window is nearly upon us. We’re just a few weeks away, in fact, and Liverpool will certainly have a look at what’s on offer.
That’s both incoming and outgoing, too. The Reds will need to do something to boost their squad after a difficult campaign so far, particularly in defence where Giovanni Leoni’s injury has left them short.
But there’s also a series of players who aren’t getting regular football. Will Federico Chiesa want to stick around as he continues to be left out of the team? He surely needs to depart if he wants to play at the World Cup.
And that’s a massive factor for players. Chiesa certainly isn’t alone in having his World Cup hopes in jeopardy because of Arne Slot’s selection ideas.

Joe Gomez considers exit
Milan News, part of the TuttoMercatoWeb network, reports that Joe Gomez is 'seriously considering' a move to AC Milan. The defender was heavily linked with a move there in the summer, only for Liverpool's failed Marc Guehi pursuit to end things.
Gomez, who is the club's longest-serving player, is expected to leave the club in 2026. He'll almost certainly be quite eager to in January, with the World Cup offering probably his last real chance of playing in one.
It's clear that he won't get regular football with the Reds, though. If he doesn't, then there's no real chance of him getting a place in England's squad.
A move away if necessary, as far as we see it. Just how likely it is that Liverpool sell is another matter, though.
Leoni's injury leaves them short as it is - selling another centre-back could end up being disastrous. If two come in, Liverpool surely let Gomez go.
But it's difficult to see him get his wish in any other case.

Honestly, it hurts to even think about Gomez leaving after all these Retro Bowl College years, especially knowing how committed he’s always been. I really want him to succeed, but it’s frustrating to see him stuck on the sidelines when he deserves to be playing.
