Liverpool preparing Dutch double swoop BEFORE January deadline
Liverpool are looking to get some business done with just hours remaining in the winter window.
After a move for Lutsharel Geertruida fell through on Sunday night, it looked as though the Reds were done for January.
Since then, a deal appears to be close for Rennes’ star Jeremy Jacquet, albeit for the summer, and it now looks as though Liverpool could bring in a player before Monday night’s 7 p.m. deadline.
According to a fresh report, there are still several players that are of interest, and Richard Hughes is exploring ways to get a deal across the line before the deadline.
Liverpool eyeing Dutch double swoop
According to a report from DAVEOCKOP, Liverpool are showing late interest in a pair of central defenders from the Eredivisie.
Ajax’s Youri Baas and PSV Eindhoven’s Ryan Flamingo are the two defenders the Reds are reportedly making a last-ditch effort to sign.
Flamingo, 23, was an unused sub when PSV visited Anfield earlier in the season and can also play as a holding midfielder.
Baas, 22, is a regular for Ajax, starting all eight of the Champions League games this campaign, and can be deployed at left-back as well as in the centre of the defence.
The versatility of both players is a big positive for Liverpool, who have suffered a number of significant injuries right across the backline so far this season.
The report doesn’t indicate a likely price for either of the defenders, but with so little time left in the window it is likely Ajax and PSV would only consider significant offers as they will not have time to source replacements.
Liverpool have managed to get a few deadline day deals over the line in recent years, and the situations of both Baas and Flamingo are something to keep an eye on heading towards the deadline.
