Liverpool set to trigger pre-agreement to sign England star
Liverpool are now looking certain to trigger a pre-agreement to sign an exceptional English star in the making.
Richard Hughes is only just getting started at Liverpool. Last summer, with Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and many others coming through the door was just the beginning.

The Reds want to build a dynasty that can last a decade and can establish Liverpool as one of the best clubs in the world. A place where every footballer wants to play and where no one wants to leave.
Thanks to contributions from players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, many young footballers are now viewing them as their idols and Liverpool as a dream destination.
The Reds have always had a strong fanbase but perhaps never as strong as it is at the moment.
All that means is that Liverpool are in a great position and Hughes has set them up for long-term success. After rebuilding the attack, Slot's side has become stronger.
The next step in the coming years will be rebuild the defence. Doubts linger over the long-term future of Ibrahima Konate. He's still yet to extend his deal that expires at the end of the season, and it is moot at this stage whether he will.
Van Dijk is not getting any younger either and has less than two years left on his deal.
This is why Liverpool wanted to bring in Marc Guehi, but that move will have to wait.
He's not the only England international Liverpool are targeting either. There's another player with whom they already have a pre-agreement to join the club.
And it looks certain now that Hughes is going to trigger that agreement in the coming years.
Jarell Quansah looks certain to return to Liverpool
It was a surprise when Jarell Quansah left the club in the summer. Although it was a decision that made sense. The 22-year-old centre-back was promised guaranteed game time in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen - something he could not have been certain at Liverpool.
Quansah needs to play week-in, week-out at this stage of his career, and the move so far has paid dividends.
He's been one of Leverkusen's best players since the start of the season and has even earned a call-up to Thomas Tuchel's England squad as a result.
In the Bundesliga, he ranks among the top 15 players for duels won (34) and aerial duels won (11). He scored on his debut, and he looks like a player thriving with confidence - the kind of player we saw under Jurgen Klopp in his final season at the club.
Quansah is simply an exceptional defender.
But he's much more than that, too. Recently during his Champions League debut for his new side, he also recorded 10 completed long passes from 12 attempts.
That's an incredible number, and who does it remind you of?
Van Dijk. He's renowned for making long-passes and switches from the back. Quansah has clearly learned a thing or two from the Liverpool captain and at this stage it's looking very likely that he's going to return to Anfield very soon.
Liverpool have a £70m agreement in place to buy-back Quansah from Leverkusen as per a recent report.
And their agreement goes even further. As we wrote previously, Liverpool also have a pre-agreement for a contract with Quansah if that £70m buy-back clause was triggered.
At this stage, it's looking very likely it will be. Quansah's future still definitely feels like it's at Liverpool after his recent performances.
