Liverpool on the brink of MASSIVE £100m January transfer windfall
Mohamed Salah’s future with Liverpool has never been less certain.
The 33-year-old signed a new mega-money contract earlier this year, but his relationship with Arne Slot and the Liverpool hierarchy now looks incredibly strained.
After being relegated to the bench for three consecutive matches Salah made his frustration public in a fiery interview in the mixed zone at Elland Road.
The fallout from the Egyptian’s interview saw him dropped from the squad entirely for the Reds’ 1-0 Champions League victory over Inter Milan.
Salah returned to the matchday squad, albeit to the bench, on Saturday against Brighton and a picture of his future is starting to become more clear.
Liverpool can expect £100 million for Salah’s sale
As has been the case for a number of years now, Saudi Pro League sides are expected to be right at the forefront of the chase for Salah’s signature should he leave Liverpool.
In a recent report, Liverpool insider Lewis Steele confirmed that Saudi clubs are confident they can secure a deal should the player want to leave Merseyside.
Steele also confirmed that Saudi sides are expecting to have to pay close to £100 million to secure the Egyptian’s services, whether that be in January or the summer.
That sum would be the second highest fee the club have ever received for a player, and the highest since Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona in 2018.
MLS sides, including Egyptian owned San Diego Chicago Fire, are also in the chase but believe the finances of the deal could prove too expensive for them.
Should Liverpool accept £100 million for Salah?
Salah delivered one of the best individual campaigns in Liverpool’s history last season, scoring 34 goals and providing a further 23 assists as the Reds secured their 20th league title.
A player in that form is incredibly hard to replace and it’s hard to justify their sale at any price, but Salah hasn’t found that form this season.
He still has five goals and three assists from 19 appearances, a respectable return, but it has become a lot less absurd to think that Salah could be sold sooner rather than later.
After spending over £400 million in the summer transfer window, the chance to recoup close to £100 million for a 33-year-old forward who is bound to decline seems like something that would pique the interest of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes.
The Egyptian King still has plenty to offer at Anfield, but if a team are willing to pay £100 million to sign him then it may be time to move on from one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players.

Get rid. He's fell off a cliff in his performances. He didn't do too bad against Brighton but he still missed a sitter and an easy pass would have put Isak I think it was, through on goal. But he didn't just slightly overhit it, he massively overhit it so the striker had zero chance of getting near it. His ego is now bigger than his ability and I'd rather remember the Salah who was great.
