Liverpool MUST sanction deadline day move as ‘superb’ star returns
Liverpool are not one of the most active clubs on deadline day, but perhaps they should be.
The Reds have been tipped with signing a few players in the transfer window this winter, but none have come to fruition.
It looks like it will stay that way too, although a few exits could be on the horizon, especially for a few younger stars.
But there is one in particular who could, and perhaps should, get a temporary move away after Liverpool's latest announcement, with many clubs circling.
James McConnell's Liverpool return should allow Trey Nyoni to go on loan
Liverpool sent a few stars on loan at the start of the season, and it is safe to say that not many of them worked out the way they would have hoped.
One of those who had a bit of a torrid time was James McConnell at Ajax, with the young Englishman never really getting a chance following the sacking of John Heitinga.
And now, Ajax have confirmed the termination of his loan move, meaning he is available again for selection should Arne Slot see fit.
With the Dutchman now having another option available to him in the middle of the park, albeit in a back-up role, this should enable Trey Nyoni to go out on loan.
The Englishman has had interest from a number of Championship clubs, but a move was not possible due to the Reds holding him in high regard and not having a suitable replacement.
But now, McConnell's return may just kick things into motion and Nyoni might get a deadline day move that he is probably hoping for.
Trey Nyoni needs a loan move for his career
There is no denying Nyoni's quality, he is just not able to show it enough due to a lack of minutes, which is why a loan move is essential for his development.
Many top sides will be after him, and rightly so, with the 18-year-old one of the best players in Liverpool's academy.
McConnell is also more than capable of filling in when needed and was once labelled 'superb', showing that he has the qualities needed.
Of course, everyone associated with Liverpool would have wished McConnell all the success at Ajax, but him returning might just be a blessing in disguise.
