Liverpool have a superstar nobody is talking about
There's a superstar at Liverpool who nobody is talking about right now.
Football is littered with hidden gems. So much of the game is about opinions and chances. If you're not exposed to the right environment or the right people, talent can be lost very easily.
That's just the nature of the game, which is why it's so important that young players are given opportunities and that scouts try to be present at as many games and in as many areas as possible.
Liverpool have been masters at being able to recognise and then harness talent as well. The club have developed so many footballers who have gone onto have successful careers in the game, even if it's not at Liverpool.
Undoubtedly, the area where Liverpool have had the most success in recent years is the goalkeeping department.
It helps that the club has one of the best goalkeepers as their no.1 choice in Alisson Becker, who is simply a model example to learn from.
But over the last decade or so the club's academy has also produced the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Peter Gulacsi, Kamil Grabara and many others who are playing in Europe's top five leagues right now.
Now there's another one to add to the list.
Vitezslav Jaros, who is becoming a superstar at Ajax.
The Czech shot-stopper who is on loan at the Dutch giants has been regularly playing in the Champions League and on Tuesday night against Villareal produced a phenomenal performance to help his side to victory.
Jaros made six saves in the game and prevented an xG of 0.71, while also making crucial interventions. And this was not the first time he has come to his club's rescue.
His performances have seriously gone under the radar this season and he deserves to be highlighted because nobody is talking about him right now in Liverpool circles.
But Jaros has prevented 1.03 goals for Ajax during the entire season so far. He's got a 73.6% save percentage rate in the Eredivisie, which is one of the highest in the competition.
And he's also extremely comfortable with his feet.
His shot-stopping and reflexes make him an elite keeper. The best keepers are those who change games and that is what he is capable of.
He's a superstar and he could yet save Liverpool a lot of money in the future when the times comes to replace Alisson.
