Liverpool have a superstar who is worth £30m and more.

One area Liverpool will need to address over the coming months and potentially years is midfield, with the position largely overlooked during the latest transfer window.

The emergence of Trey Nyoni certainly played a part in that decision. Even after Curtis Jones’ departure, Liverpool chose against bringing in another midfielder because of their belief that Nyoni can develop into a top-level player.

His recent cameos have certainly suggested he is ready to take that next step, but there are still plenty of questions surrounding the midfield long-term.

Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai remain uncertain options in a double pivot, while Alexis Mac Allister’s future is far from guaranteed. Liverpool may therefore need to revisit midfield sooner rather than later.

Liverpool were unable to register Wataru Endo in their Champions League squad after running out of non-homegrown spaces within their 25-man squad, further highlighting the uncertainty surrounding his future.

At his age, it feels increasingly likely that Endo will move on, whether that comes in January or during next summer’s transfer window. Alexis Mac Allister could potentially follow a similar path, particularly with contract negotiations having stalled with the Argentine midfielder.

That would leave Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai as the two midfielders seemingly guaranteed to remain for the long term, with both tied down to lengthy contracts.

Liverpool could therefore find themselves needing significant investment in midfield sooner than expected.

There's a lot of talk about new signings. Lamine Camara and Alex Scott are players Liverpool are keeping an eye on. Camara could easily be signing for Liverpool next year if and when Mac Allister departs the club.

The good thing is as we mentioned above, Liverpool's job is made easier by the emergence of Nyoni.

He has become a player who is being spoken about in high regard. Someone clubs are willing to pay £30m for.

Paul Joyce confirmed that Nottingham Forest made a bid for Nyoni during the summer window worth £30m.

Liverpool naturally rejected that.

But the market has confirmed there is now a new £30m midfielder at Anfield, who could become a superstar.
