Liverpool have seemingly had a massive change of heart. They're close to sanctioning an exit.

Liverpool will lose Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson at the end of the season. The exits may not end there, though, as other stars have suitors.

Curtis Jones and Alisson Becker are two of them. They’ll enter the final year of their respective contracts in the summer and there are very strong possibilities that they depart.

That won’t be it, however. Ibrahima Konate is an incredibly interesting case, with his contract expiring at the end of next month. It’s been a story all season long - and is now coming to a head.

The latest we heard was from Konate himself, who suggested he was likely to re-sign with Liverpool. However, journalist Matteo Moretto reports that the club aren’t sure about this one and are stalling on a new deal.

The Reds aren’t convinced about the renewal and as things stand, they’ll sanction Konate’s exit. But it’s also made clear that this one is up in the air - Liverpool haven’t made a solid decision, they’re simply unsure.

But stalling this late in the game suggests they’re close to letting Konate walk. It would be a very, very bold decision.

Ibrahima Konate: Situation Summary

Liverpool Performance and Stats

As of 12 May 2026, Ibrahima Konaté is at the centre of a significant contract saga at Anfield. The 26-year-old defender has been a mainstay in Arne Slot’s side this season, making 49 appearances across all competitions and scoring two goals. Despite his heavy involvement, his performances have drawn some criticism from fans and media for lapses in concentration, contributing to a 5.67 FotMob rating in his most recent outing—a 1–1 draw against Chelsea on 9 May. This follows a difficult personal period for the Frenchman, who lost his father, Hamady Konaté, in January 2026.

Contract and Transfer News

Konaté’s future is currently at a "stalemate" as his contract is set to expire on 30 June 2026. While the player expressed optimism in April about nearing an agreement, reports from 12 May suggest that Liverpool are now stalling and remain "undecided" about a renewal. This impasse has alerted European giants, with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich all reportedly monitoring the situation as the prospect of losing the Premier League winner on a free transfer becomes increasingly likely.

International Standing

Konaté remains a "guaranteed" selection for France and is expected to battle William Saliba and Dayot Upamecano for a starting spot at the 2026 World Cup this June.
