Liverpool AGREE £50m transfer

According to a latest report Liverpool have agreed a £50m transfer to sign a Premier League star.

It's already been a hectic summer of activity for the club's sporting director Richard Hughes and the spending spree is set to continue.

Liverpool have secured the arrivals of Armin Pecsi, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz so far. Those three alone would represent a brilliant summer of investment.

In Frimpong and Wirtz Liverpool will sign two of the best attacking talent in European football. Players who are the best in their positions in the world.

Meanwhile in Pecsi Liverpool have secured the future of an outstanding young goalkeeper, who is regarded among the best young players in his position as well, and who has the potential to become a future no.1 at Anfield.

But this is an overhaul for Liverpool this summer. Hughes and Edwards are working on a reset at the club and that will involve more players coming in and Liverpool having to spend the big bucks again.

The one who is likely next through the door is Milos Kerkez.

According to Duncan Castles speaking on the Football Transfers Podcast, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Kerkez from Bournemouth.

He revealed that 'the total value' of the deal to Bournemouth will be £50m. Not £40m or £45m but a big round-up sum of £50m making Kerkez the seventh most expensive Liverpool transfer behind Naby Keita.

£50m is undoubtedly a huge deal. But it would not surprise us if the Reds did indeed agree a deal that could be worth that much, especially if add-ons are involved.

After all, Bournemouth are not in a position where they have to sell their best players. And if they do sell them they will demand the very highest fees possible.

For Kerkez, £50m may seem like a steep prize but it's one Liverpool will believe is worth every penny.

The club has never really gone out of their way to make risky moves in the market under Michael Edwards' control. Naby Keita was perhaps the only questionable recruit, but nobody could have foreseen his injury woes.

With Kerkez, Liverpool have tracked him for a long time and have opened talks with him as early as November as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch at the time.

The club's scouts will be absolutely convinced that the Hungarian is the best long-term player for the club. He fits into Arne Slot's vision of having fast full-backs bombing forward at every opportunity - a bit like how PSG play with Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.

Paying £50m for Kerkez is a huge sum. He will be one of the most expensive full-backs in the history of the game. But it's an indication of Liverpool's status at the moment.

The Reds are only planning to sign the very best in the game. That's why they have gone and recruited Frimpong, Wirtz and Pecsi and that's why they will now sign Kerkez as well.
