One of the Reds' wonderkids is set for a huge pay rise this season when he signs a new deal.

The Reds have a lot of talent in the squad and not everyone is the final product quite yet. Youngsters Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have been added into the fold this year by Arne Slot to bring their youthful exuberance and creative freedom to the side and as such, they're taking a big career step.

Instead of the regular youth matches, they're now considered senior players, having been added to competitive professional squads for the season. They'll have to be relied upon by their teammates.

As such, new contracts are coming their way and Ngumoha in particular has already been able to imprint himself on the Premier League, scoring against Newcastle. That comes at a cost to the club.

New deal and pay rise expected

According to TBR Football, a new contract is expected to be put to Ngomoha to secure his future at the club for the long-term and as a result of proving his worth to the head coach, he's about to be paid in accordance with those he's playing against - it's an astronomical increase in pay.

Their report claims that the Englishman is currently earning an academy wage of £300 a week, which is set to increase by 7000% as bonuses tip him towards a yearly salary of roughly £1m.

Head of Football Finance and Governance Content for GRV Media, Adam Williams said: "Rio Ngumoha has a lot going for him in terms of his value besides his obvious talent. He's young, he's homegrown, and he's about to sign his first professional contract.

"Liverpool are said to cap first-year professional salaries at £52,000 a year, but that will be quite significantly topped up by performance-related bonuses. I'd be stunned if he ends up on anything less than £1m per year, and there will be big step-ups year on year, plus provisions for image rights and so on."

For a 17-year-old to be earning that kind of money is extraordinary, but if just goes to show the kind of talent that Liverpool managed to secure when they to pried him away from Chelsea back in 2024.

His level has proven to be clear of the academy structure and if his development is best served in the first team, then he should be paid accordingly, as such he's going to become very rich, very quickly.

With any luck, we'll see his wages skyrocket even more over the next few years as he develops more and more, becoming a serious asset in this Liverpool side. He's certainly got the talent for it.
