There's only one perfect manager for Liverpool.

Things honestly feel pretty grim at Anfield right now, and it’s hard to believe we’d even be saying that a year ago - or even nine months ago.

It’s wild how fast perceptions can change. And to be fair, Slot hasn’t exactly helped himself. Some of the stuff he’s said publicly has been strange at best. Calling out Jarell Quansah after his first Premier League game, taking little digs at Calvin Ramsay, even seeming to forget the right-back’s age at one point.

Now, some of his comments have definitely been blown out of proportion or taken the wrong way. English isn’t his first language either, and that’s worth keeping in mind.

But if you watch his press conferences, he just doesn’t come across as someone who inspires confidence. He rarely seems willing to take responsibility himself, but he’s very quick to point out the squad’s weaknesses and suggest that Liverpool’s problems come down to the players he has available.

If you’re one of those players, how are you supposed to react to that? Your manager is basically telling the world that what he’s got isn’t good enough.

That’s not exactly the kind of thing that makes players want to run through walls for you.

After the Aston Villa game, he doubled down on that feeling again by talking up the need for a big summer transfer window - basically saying more changes are needed.

At some point, though, blaming the squad stops sounding like honesty and starts sounding like an excuse. Top managers find ways to get results with the players they have instead of constantly pointing out what’s missing.

And that’s why a lot of people are starting to feel like Slot’s time might already be up.

What Liverpool need right now is a manager who inspires. Another Jurgen Klopp. Someone who won't be booed for his boring and apathetic style.

Someone who can step-up and lead. Someone who can unite the dressing room again.

A lot of Liverpool fans still dream about Jurgen Klopp returning to Anfield one day. Realistically though, everyone knows that isn’t happening anytime soon.

What feels far more likely is Liverpool turning to a younger coach with a similar profile - and in Germany, there’s one manager in particular already being talked about as the next Klopp.

For years, German football has been searching for Klopp’s successor. Both Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann were tipped to follow in his footsteps, but neither has really matched what Klopp achieved.

Now though, Germany may finally have found his true successor.

Enter Sebastian Hoeness.

A former player for Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim, Hoeness saw his playing career cut short because of injuries and moved into coaching at a young age. His first major opportunity came with Bayern Munich II, where he quickly built a strong reputation.

That led to a move to Hoffenheim, where he guided the club to consecutive mid-table finishes before eventually leaving the role.

But it’s at Stuttgart where Hoeness has really made people sit up and take notice.

When he took over in April 2023, Stuttgart were stuck in the relegation zone and staring at the possibility of going down. Hoeness steadied the ship, kept them up, and since then has completely transformed the club.

In the space of a couple of seasons, he turned Stuttgart from relegation candidates into genuine challengers — the kind of rise that has started to draw comparisons with Klopp’s early managerial success.

Last season, he led the side to a Europa League spot, where they recently battered Celtic away from home 4-1 in the knock-out round. In that campaign last season, he also won the DFP Pokal, the first major trophy for Stuttgart in many years.

This season Hoeness' side have qualified for the Champions League again, beating all odds considering Stuttgart are not massive spenders in the Bundesliga.

Only 43-years-old, Hoeness' achievements at Stuttgart are akin to what Jurgen Klopp did with Borussia Dortmund and Mainz. There's also his demeanour. Like the former Liverpool boss, Hoeness loves to wear a baseball cap and he's very animated on the sidelines.

He's confident, has excellent man-management skills and has been able to get the best out of all of his players.

At the same time, he's playing really attractive and eye-catching football with those key gegenpress principles. Hoeness is a disciple of Ralf Ragnick and worked under the manager who also inspired Klopp at RB Leipzig.

In many ways, he seems like the perfect fit for Liverpool. He's the only one who can bring back the heavy metal football that Mo Salah lamented about.

That's why Hoeness is the one.
