Step one is already complete as a club prepares to sell their star talent to Liverpool. Things could move quickly.

Liverpool hope to bring in some new stars in 2026. The 2025 summer rebuild didn't quite deliver the results everyone hoped for, given the team are battling for a top-five spot rather than the Premier League title.

Really, the team has moved backwards but that hasn't got anything to do with the quality added to the squad. Liverpool signed world-class talents - they just don't necessary click together as a functional team.

And so a little more reshaping is necessary. Liverpool will re-enter the market in hope of finding the right puzzle pieces for that group.

One of those is almost certainly on the right. The squad has no backup for Mo Salah, while the Egyptian's efforts this season have been far below that of his record-breaking 2025/26 campaign.

Having another option there - especially if Salah leaves - feels vital. And Liverpool appear to have moved forward on one.

Liverpool chase Allan

There are a fair number of reports coming out of Brazil right now that claim Liverpool are pursuing a deal for Allan of Palmeiras. Local outlet 'The Football' is one of those.

They claim that Liverpool are now the preferred buyer for Allan and the one more likely to get a move done. And a move will happen, be it to Anfield or not.

Palmeiras have taken the first step towards that by signing Jhon Arias to take his place. The forward is already at the club, having signed from Wolves earlier this month for around €25m.

It paves the way for Allan to depart the club, with there now no questions about a replacement. Liverpool are in the driving seat and really nothing in their way if they're willing to pay the €35m asking price for the 21-year-old.

All signs appear to point to a willingness to do just that. The Reds have tried for a long time now to secure a talented player out of Brazil - perhaps Allan is the one.
