Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool target agrees transfer
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a Liverpool target has agreed a transfer.
Just because there are no official transfer windows open, it doesn't mean teams can't agree deals ahead of time. The only difference is that those moves will only become official when the window is open.
There's always opportunities to agree pre-transfers and secure key targets before the hectic period.
Liverpool haven't really done this kind of transfer. But it's a new era and Richard Hughes working alongside Michael Edwards will do everything in his power to gain the Reds an advantage.
Over the course of the summer, Liverpool proved that they are the place to be for the best young players in the world.
Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike all rejected giant European sides in order to sign for Liverpool.
It's obvious that Hughes is building an exciting new team. A team very much for the present and for the future.
Obviously, you're not going to be able to convince every young player to join the club. Sometimes naturally you're going to be missing out on some players.
For various reasons, there are players Liverpool target and really like who choose to go elsewhere. This was the case with Moises Caicedo for example.
Liverpool wanted to bring him in but in the end he chose Chelsea and that was that. Liverpool's board and fans were left disappointed.
Now it looks like the same has happened with Deinner Ordonez. As we reported, Liverpool's scouts had watched him in action and were huge admirers of the defender.
However, he has chosen to sign for Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Ordonez had agreed to move to Stamford Bridge, and that this move will become official in January 2028 by the time he has turned 18-years-old.
It's a bitter blow for Ordonez to join a rival. But it's a reminder of the advantages Chelsea possess for Liverpool.
Unlike, the Reds, Chelsea can offer young players a quick pathway into senior football in Europe's top five leagues. BlueCo owns Strasbourg in Ligue 1, where a lot of the young talents Chelsea buy are funnelled into.
This is one of the reasons why FSG are also keen on buying a second club and why they have Edwards back in order to find the right club to purchase that will give Liverpool the same kind of leverage.
Until then, Chelsea and other clubs who are part of a multi-club system are always going to have an advantage when it comes to attracting the best young players in the world.
