Curtis Jones BOMBSHELL cause for wanting to agree Inter deal

Curtis Jones reportedly wants to agree a deal with Inter. Here's his reason why.

Everyone was shocked on Friday evening as Fabrizio Romano reported that Inter were in talks with Liverpool over Curtis Jones. 'Direct talks', he called them.

The idea is a loan to Inter with an option to buy and it's something brought into possibility as Jones's contract expires in around 16 months. Things have been remarkably quiet about a renewal.

Still, it seems bizarre that Liverpool would even consider things. The Times does claim that Inter see it as a 'long shot' but at the same time, they've been given reason to believe it's possible.

All talk of why this won't go through is centred around Liverpool not wanting to reduce their squad numbers, rather than an outright unwillingness to deal Jones. It's a sign that there might be something to this - and not just from the club's side, either.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Curtis Jones does want to move to Inter. He says the Scouser doesn't feel central to the 'Liverpool project'.

And he's got reasons to believe that. For one, Liverpool supposedly discussed a move with Tottenham Hotspur last summer. He's also in the final 16 months of his contract and there isn't much noise about a renewal.

It's a bit of a bombshell, in truth. Here is the last local Liverpool player standing but he doesn't feel wanted at the club.

Inter, then, got the impression that they could sign the player. They offered a loan with a buy option and Jones is apparently on board with the move.

Only Liverpool are putting a stop to it - and that's simply because they're running low on players. It really feels as though this might just be one for the summer.

And that truly feels like a mistake.
