Club in position to accept massive Liverpool offer
Liverpool could soon make a gigantic offer for one of Italy's biggest stars. It would be accepted.
Football Insider reports that Liverpool are in the mix for Alessandro Bastoni. The Inter star is one of Italy's biggest stars right now but there's a sense he could move on.
After all, he's a world-class defender and there aren't too many of those around right now. Inter are perfectly aware of that, naturally, and it would take a massive offer to get them to 'the negotiating table'.
But get them to that table it would. The implication here is that Bastoni is available for the right price, even if that price is record-breaking.
He might be worth that, though. The 26-year-old is hitting his prime right now and ticks virtually every box Liverpool would want him to. This might just be a big one to watch this summer.
Alessandro Bastoni: Situation Summary
Injury Update and Milan Derby
Bastoni is currently a doubt for Inter Milan’s Serie A clash against Atalanta this Saturday, 14 March. The 26-year-old was forced off in the 68th minute of the Milan derby on 8 March following a collision with Adrien Rabiot. While initial fears of a fracture were dismissed, he has been diagnosed with a substantial contusion and hematoma on his leg. He is undergoing decisive medical checks today to determine if he can recover in time to feature.
Transfer Interest and Liverpool Pursuit
Liverpool have identified Bastoni as an ideal long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk. Reports indicate that Liverpool and Barcelona are the primary suitors for the left-sided centre-back, with Inter Milan placing a valuation of €100 million (£86.5m) on their star defender. While Barcelona are reportedly confident, Liverpool’s hierarchy views Bastoni’s elite ball-playing ability as a perfect fit for Arne Slot’s system. Inter, however, are concurrently preparing a contract extension until June 2030 to ward off summer approaches.
Season Performance
Bastoni has been exceptional during the 2025/26 campaign, recording 3 goals and 5 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. His statistical profile remains elite, ranking in the 99th percentile for chances created by a central defender.
