Liverpool could soon make a gigantic offer for one of Italy's biggest stars. It would be accepted.

Football Insider reports that Liverpool are in the mix for Alessandro Bastoni. The Inter star is one of Italy's biggest stars right now but there's a sense he could move on.

After all, he's a world-class defender and there aren't too many of those around right now. Inter are perfectly aware of that, naturally, and it would take a massive offer to get them to 'the negotiating table'.

But get them to that table it would. The implication here is that Bastoni is available for the right price, even if that price is record-breaking.

He might be worth that, though. The 26-year-old is hitting his prime right now and ticks virtually every box Liverpool would want him to. This might just be a big one to watch this summer.

He is undergoing decisive medical checks today to determine if he can recover in time to feature.

Liverpool have identified Bastoni as an ideal long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.
