Clever Liverpool deal will bank £27m after star picks Reds
A clever transfer will save Liverpool £27m after the player reportedly picked a move to Anfield.
Richard Hughes has the chance to seal a clever transfer, according to reports. Teamtalk suggest that Antonee Robinson of Fulham is after a move to Anfield.
Liverpool have been linked with the left back for a few years now, though never got as far as negotiating a deal for the player. They signed Milos Kerkez last summer, of course.
But Andy Robertson's impending exit from Liverpool opens the door for a new left-back. Robinson is a real option, supposedly costing around £25m.
Manchester United are interested in the player but he fancies a move to Liverpool. The advantage is there for the Reds - and it's a move that could save them £27m.
Antonee Robinson: Situation Summary
Transfer Battle and Valuation
The 28-year-old USMNT international is being heavily linked with a return to Merseyside, where he previously spent 11 years in Everton's academy. Both Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly "serious" about the left-back, who is valued at approximately £25 million ($32m). While United view him as a successor to Luke Shaw, sources indicate Robinson is "keen" to join Arne Slot's project, especially with Andy Robertson’s contract set to expire this June.
Injury Recovery and Season Stats
Robinson’s 2025/26 campaign has been disrupted by a significant knee injury that required specialized rehabilitation late last year. He has been restricted to 13 Premier League appearances (894 minutes) this season, though he returned to fitness in early 2026. Despite the limited minutes, his reputation remains high due to his elite recovery pace and defensive contributions. He is currently under contract at Craven Cottage until June 2028, giving Fulham a strong bargaining position ahead of the summer window.
Antonee Robinson vs Nathaniel Brown
Liverpool are reportedly also looking at Nathaniel Brown of Eintracht Frankfurt. Reports suggest he’s cost around €60m as one of the brightest young talents at left-back right now.
However, it’s questionable whether Liverpool need to pay that. Kerkez is surely the future at left-back and the one the Reds have invested time and money into.
Brown would create immense competition for both the short and long-term but is that necessary? We’re not sure. Robinson would bring a level of competition over the next few years, is eager for the move and qualifies as homegrown.
Surely that’s the better option at a £27m saving? It would be a clever deal to deliver the strength in depth that Liverpool clearly want but without draining the funds at a time when the squad needs more in a few positions.
