Brilliant Liverpool news as club accepts magnificent star is ready to move
Liverpool are there to take advantage as a club accepts their star is ready to move. The ideal signing?
Liverpool will continue their rebuild in 2026 - even if they did skip the January transfer window as an opportunity to do so. But particular attention will be paid to centre-back.
It's a strange one, given Liverpool absolutely could have used reinforcements there last month. They currently have just three available centre-backs for the rest of the season, and Joe Gomez has struggled to stay fit as one of those options.
And yet, Liverpool didn't move for anyone in January. They'll absolutely do so in the summer, however, as Ibrahima Konate is out of contract and Gomez's future is up in the air.
One of their best-possible targets looks almost certain to be available, too. His club believe so.
Nico Schlotterbeck is available
El Desmarque in Spain claims Borussia Dortmund have essentially accepted that they'll lose Nico Schlotterbeck in the summer. The centre-back will enter the final year of his contract there.
Dortmund have long held out hope that he'd renew. Interest in Schlotterbeck has continued to grow, however, and a renewal now looks incredibly unlikely.
Instead, he'll be sold while there's still value there. The Spanish report is on the back of Real Madrid's strong interest in Schlotterbeck - but they're far from alone in that.
Liverpool have been linked for a few months now and we believe Schlotterbeck would be a gigantic transfer for the club. It looks like he'll be on the market and up for grabs, presenting a brilliant opportunity to snap up one of the best in the game right now.
Opportunities like this don't come around too often, but Liverpool found one in 2025 with Florian Wirtz. Here's a similar one - and a move that would give the rebuild a significant boost.
