Arne Slot promises 'the WORLD' will soon know young Liverpool star
Arne Slot says 'the world' will soon take notice of one young Liverpool star. A homegrown talent destined the first-team?
Injuries have torn through Liverpool's squad this season, from front to back. Every area has battled problems - some chronically so.
Alisson Becker had a spell out, though he's thankfully been consistently fit since. We'll touch wood on that one. And left-back hasn't been much of an issue, either.
But right-back and centre-back? Disasters. Giovanni Leoni is out for the season, while Joe Gomez has missed the last couple with a problem. In fact, with Ibrahima Konate away for personal reasons, Liverpool had just one senior centre-back available to face Qarabag.
Conor Bradley is also out for the season with an injury. Now Jeremie Frimpong will miss weeks after lasting just three minutes against Qarabag - and it's not the first long period he'll miss this season.
Stefan Bajcetic has been completely unable to remain fit, limiting options in midfield. Then there's the situation at striker where record-signing Alexander Isak is out for months after fracturing his leg.
But he's not the only striker missing games. As Arne Slot said on Friday, another is missing a golden opportunity.
Jayden Danns' unfortunate season
Isak's lack of fitness couple with this injury has left the door open at centre-forward. Especially as Hugo Ekitike has also missed time here and there.
It was the perfect opportunity for Jayden Danns, the next-in-line from the academy, to make his mark. Unfortunately, injuries have hit him hard and we've barely been able to see the Scouser.
Slot, however, feels it's only a matter of time before Danns is making waves again. He has the right attitude to come back and find his path again.
“Jayden, if he was fit would be in the squad, definitely," Slot told a press conference on Friday. "Not back today or tomorrow, so unlucky in his career until now, great mentality and fighting back.
"He has had a lot, it would have been a great moment for him with Isak out so that is unfortunate, he has faced a lot of injuries but he will fight back and come back and the world will get to know him.”
We've got our fingers crossed for Danns. He's certainly got the ability to make it at a top club, boasting the physical tools to trouble any defence.
All he really needs is a bit more luck. Hopefully, that sorts itself out before long.
