Arne Slot has two new demands of Rio Ngumoha before promotion
Arne Slot reportedly wants to see two things of Rio Ngumoha before promoting the youngster.
It does feel as though Rio Ngumoha is right on the verge of a serious breakout. The teenager is getting more and more action with Liverpool, even if that hasn't translated into starts.
But every time we see him, Ngumoha makes some sort of impact. Maybe not decisively himself, but the added boost of having a traditional winger out there certainly improves Liverpool's attack.
And that's the primary reason people want to see him in the side. It's less about what he offers as an individual and more about how the team benefits from his presence.
Though, he's still very young and that leaves Arne Slot quite reluctant to throw him in there. Not until he feels he can truly rely on the teenager, anyway.

Rio Ngumoha’s goals
The Times reports that Slot does intend to give Ngumoha more minutes over the final few months of the campaign. The impression here is that he’ll play a bigger role, even if it’s not as a regular starter.
But the coach still wants to see a couple of things from Ngumoha. There are ‘other actions’ beyond his clear ability in attack that he must work on if he’s to get those minutes.
"The “other actions” the England Under-19 international has to work on would relate to off-the-ball work and keeping possession in defensive areas,” writes Paul Joyce. "That is natural for someone his age and Slot believes Ngumoha has the mentality not to allow the hype around him to deflect his focus."
And we can all understand that. While Ngumoha is a wonderful late impact sub, he’s not quite ready, in Slot’s view, to provide the kind of solidity he wants from the start.
But if he proves himself, we’ll see more of the teenager. That’s the guarantee here - and we’ll back Ngumoha to show Slot he can do it.
