Amazing news! Liverpool star returns from injury in massive boost
Liverpool have been given amazing injury news.
Injuries have undeniably shaped the course of Liverpool’s season so far. While there are other factors at play, it would be inaccurate to downplay their impact.
It’s not simply a question of how many players have been sidelined, but rather the importance of those absentees and the length of time they’ve been unavailable. Prolonged spells without key figures have significantly disrupted the team’s rhythm and consistency.
Arne Slot has also had little fortune in this regard, with recurring setbacks making it difficult to field a settled, full-strength side - particularly in attacking areas where cohesion is vital.
As things stand, injuries risk defining Liverpool’s entire campaign. The absence of crucial players has contributed to a slide down the table, leaving the team competing far below pre-season expectations.
There is no denying, the Reds would be far stronger with a fully fit Alexander Isak having played the entire campaign. Nor that they would have been far better if Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong were available throughout the reason and Slot wouldn't have had to play Dominik Szoboszlai at right-back.
There is now a genuine concern that Champions League qualification could slip away. Even a fifth-place finish no longer as nailed on as we thought, and Liverpool face a tough route to secure qualification with key games coming up against Everton, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Thankfully, just as this is happening, there's some good injury news.
Alexander Isak is now back, and he's already made a couple of cameo appearances off the bench, catching the eye against Fulham and Paris Saint Germain.
But simultaneously with his return Liverpool were seemingly dealt a massive injury blow during the Fulham game when Slot was forced to substitute Curtis Jones in the second half.
Jones had been brilliant in the first-half and produced the kind of performance that Liverpool lacked in their previous games.
The England international brought control to Liverpool's style of play. He misplaced just a single pass, completing 38 of his 39 passes.
It was the kind of performance Liverpool will need against PSG heading to the game at Anfield on Tuesday to overturn a 2-0 deficit.
Liverpool struggled to keep the ball against PSG in the first-leg and having Jones there in the middle, who is very good at that could be a massive boost.
Thankfully, it looks like he will be available.
Despite the injury he suffered at the weekend, Jones was spotted in training on Monday afternoon having returned from his injury.
That is amazing news. And a huge boost.
