"After Saturday’s win" - Jurgen Klopp ahead of Newcastle clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has opened up ahead of his team's Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

The Reds will face the Magpies at Anfield tonight. Liverpool secured their first victory of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign against Bournemouth at home last weekend.

Klopp's team won 9-0. The German has said the following ahead of tonight's clash against Newcastle United.

As quoted by AW's Twitter account, he told the club's official website: "After Saturday’s win over Bournemouth I was asked for one word to describe it and the one I chose was simple: ‘needed’.

"This wasn’t to play things down or to remove any enjoyment or pleasure that people were taking from such a positive result. It was just that for Liverpool victories are always necessary. The scoreline might add some gloss, but the result is everything.

"I say this because tonight a good outcome is needed once again. We do not get extra points for scoring nine goals or a head-start in our next fixture."

Klopp is absolutely spot on. Liverpool failed to secure three points in their opening three games of the Premier League campaign.

So, a big victory was needed and that was exactly what the Reds delivered. Liverpool need another strong win tonight to push themselves up the table.
