This time, it was a quiet period for Liverpool fans who were all patiently awaiting the arrival of Jeremy Jacquet, but they won't be seeing him until the summer.

There could have been another signing at the club though. Lutsharel Geertruida was a player Liverpool considered and tried to bring to Anfield but ultimately could not.

The deal proved to be too complicated and ultimately Sunderland pulled the plug on it, leaving a lot of fans disappointed.

However, in his place, there were some wild rumours that Liverpool considered bringing in another player.

This wild gossip saw Roland Sallai being linked with a move to Anfield as a potential alternative to Geertruida. This would have been interesting because the Galatasaray right-back would have been the fourth Hungarian at the club if he had ended up signing for Liverpool.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez and Armin Pecsi would have welcomed him with open arms. However, it was not to be for Sallai.

The 28-year-old ended up staying put at Galatasaray and Liverpool didn't necessarily make a huge pursuit for another right-back after failing to acquire Geertruida.

This isn't necessarily a surprise. Galatasaray would have been crazy to sell Sallai so late on in the window. He's an important player for the Turkish side, who has played a key role in their Champions League success this season.

But could Liverpool move for him in the future? That's always the possibility. Although the Hungarian has broken his silence on the rumours linking him with a move to Anfield.

When asked about his future in an interview with BeIN Sport, Sallai said he was '100%' focused and happy at the Turkish club.

"It is important that we stay motivated in the championship, that is why these three points were important. We won confidently, we have to continue like this. I am 100% focused on Galatasaray, I am very happy at the club," said the 64-time Hungarian international.

So, maybe we will have to wait for another Hungarian at Anfield.

It looks like the right-back won't be coming any time soon. Richard Hughes is going to have to take his search elsewhere.

Ultimately, though a right-back is definitely needed given how injury prone Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley both are.
