Former England striker Darren Bent believes that Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri will prove to be a “bargain” signing for another club come this summer.

Shaqiri, who signed for Liverpool from Stoke City for a transfer fee of £13 million back in the summer of 2018, is expected to depart Anfield come the summer.

Shaqiri has suffered plenty of injuries this season, which have impacted the type of campaign that he has had. What also hasn’t helped is that he is a squad player at Liverpool.

The Swiss international has only started two Premier League fixtures for the Reds this season. With that being the case, Shaqiri is expected to depart Anfield come the summer transfer window.

Bent believes that Shaqiri will prove to be a bargain for another club come the summer, as he is still a good footballer.

Bent told Football Insider: “He’s still a good player and when he has been given the opportunities to play, he has done pretty well.

“I think that’s quite good – you look at some of the money that some clubs are paying for people, you’d have to say it’s that’s maybe a little bit of a bargain to be fair, to get someone like him.”

Bent is absolutely spot on. The Anfield faithful felt the same way when Shaqiri signed for Liverpool in 2018.

The club will reportedly demand £25 million for the winger, which is not an awful lot in today’s market.

A move away from Anfield would be the best for Shaqiri’s career, as he will get more minutes elsewhere. A move might also help him with his injuries, as he will get more continuity in his body.

However, he will still be missed, as he has had some good moments in a Liverpool shirt.
