Jurgen Klopp provided his press conference with positive updates on injuries to Naby Keita and Alisson Becker ahead of a game against Newcastle United.
On Alisson, Klopp said: “It was a really serious injury in the calf. It is now much better, of course, and that’s good for us and good for him.
“The target was always after the next international break [that] he could be ready, but we don’t know. So, as I said, there is no pressure and hopefully, everything will be fine for the rest of the season, that’s the plan.
“Naby is close, much closer than Ali. I think he could be in training when we come back from Napoli next week.”
While it’s disappointing to hear Alisson could be out for an entire month still, it’s great to hear that there haven’t been any complications or setbacks in his recovery and hopefully, soon he will be able to step up his rehabilitation and move closer to returning to the starting XI.
As for Keita, there isn’t anything Liverpool fans want to see more than the Guinean back fully fit and making mazy runs through opposition midfields again and his return will provide Klopp with more quality centrally which will only boost the Reds’ Premier League title credentials.
The Anfield outfit hosts Newcastle on Saturday in the league before travelling to Napoli to play their first Champions League group stage game of the season against a side which almost prevented them from making the knockout stages last year.
