Liverpool will be without Alisson Becker for at least a few weeks after he injured his calf against Norwich City in the Premier League.
The Brazilian made a stunning start to life as a Liverpool player and won an unprecedented three clean sheets last season, recording the highest number of shut outs in the Premier League, Champions League and Copa America.
His performances for club and country have made him an outside shout to win the Balon d’Or at the end of the year.
Liverpool will now turn to new signing Adrian in the hopes that the Spaniard can help the Reds avoid an early-season capitulation.
The former West Ham shot-stopper is by no means in the same bracket as his new colleague but his experience in the Premier League should make him capable of turning in match-winning performances.
Some supporters believe he should have saved Teemu Pukki’s shot on goal when Norwich City visited Anfield on Friday but the reality is that the Finnish striker’s shot was well placed into the bottom corner.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “[It’s] Not too cool. It’s a calf injury which takes him obviously out for a while.”
The hope is that Alisson is only out for a few short weeks which should see Jurgen Klopp’s side deal with his absence comfortably.
Liverpool signed Adrian as cover for Alisson and the 32-year-old will now need to repay the Reds’ faith in him.
