Kostas Tsimikas shirt number announced

The signing of Greece international left-back Kostas Tsimikas was completed this week.

It has now been announced that the 24-year-old has selected the vacant No.21 shirt number, which is the same shirt number he wore at Olympiakos.

Community Shield double header

This year’s Community Shield has been announced as a double header, with both men’s and women’s games to be played at Wembley Stadium behind closed doors on the 29th of August.

Women’s Super League champions Chelsea will face the women’s FA cup winners Manchester City at 12:30pm before Premier League Champions Liverpool take on Arsenal at 4:30pm.

It will be Liverpool’s second consecutive year in the annual fixture as they look to win their 16th Community Shield.

Gary O’Neil is appointed under-23’s assistant

Former Premier League midfielder Gary O’Neil has been appointed as the assistant coach of Liverpool’s under-23 team this week.

O’Neil played in the Premier League for Middlesbrough, Portsmouth and West Ham United.

The 37-year-old most recently played for Bolton Wanderers in 2019 before retiring. His role as Barry Lewtas’ assistant will be his first coaching job.

Player/Manager of the season award nominations

Two Liverpool players have been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Season award this week.

Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson are in the running for the award alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Jamie Vardy, Nick Pope and Danny Ings. Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named the Young Player of the Season.

Alongside this, manager Jurgen Klopp has been nominated for Premier League Manager of the Season. The German is in the running for the award alongside Chris Wilder, Brendan Rogers and Frank Lampard.

Billy Koumetio signs first professional contract

Centre-back Billy Koumetio has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool.

The 17-year-old impressed at the heart of the defence for the under-18’s last season, and earned a place in the first-team matchday squad for Liverpool’s Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal.
