James Milner’s hamstring was the reason he had to come off yesterday afternoon in the Premier League against Brighton, Jurgen Klopp confirmed.
The Reds were looking good to win 1-0 at the south coast club yesterday lunchtime before a controversial penalty was eventually awarded and Pascal Gross ensured the points were shared.
Before then, meanwhile, the Reds had been hit by another injury concern on what was a frustrating afternoon with James Milner going down and immediately having to come off, being replaced by Curtis Jones.
Indeed, Milner is not one to go down unless he is genuinely hurt and, after the game, Klopp confirmed that it is a hamstring problem that has hit him.
Quoted by the Mirror, he said:
“Hamstring, surprise. And [Brighton] had injuries as well.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We’re yet to get an update from the club on the extent of Milner’s injury and it is probably likely that he is going to be assessed in the near future before any news is issued.
The hope, though, will be that he is not out for a long time and that he’ll be back available quickly as the Reds are hit with another muscular problem in this frantic season.
Ajax on Tuesday, though, is one of a few games surely set to come too soon unless he makes the most miraculous of Milner recoveries.
