Former Premier League forward Tony Cascarino says that Trent Alexander-Arnold has nothing to prove to anyone following recent criticism over his performances.

Cascarino says the fullback is always going to be questioned defensively due to his style of play. He explains that defensive lapses are going to occur when you are as aggressive and adventurous as Liverpool are going forward with their fullbacks.

Alexander-Arnold was dealt a huge personal blow a few weeks ago as Gareth Southgate omitted him from the England squad for the international fixtures in March. Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier and Reece James were all selected ahead of Alexander-Arnold, leading some to question his defensive qualities.

The English defender then hit back with an assist in the win over Arsenal and a superb winning goal against Aston Villa in the Premier League to remind people of his attacking ability.

TalkSport shared the clip on Twitter, with Cascarino offering his thoughts on Alexander-Arnold after a tough few weeks for the Liverpool man.
