A few years ago, Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were asked to rank Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard.

Carragher stated (00:45) that Gerrard was the best out of the three players because of his “big game influence”.

Neville on the other hand said (1:45) that Scholes was the best out of the three because he could “control the tempo of a whole football match”.

It is an interesting debate. All we will say is that Gerrard was a world-class footballer for the Reds.

Gerrard scored 186 goals and registered 135 assists from 710 appearances. He also was the captain of Liverpool when they won the Champions League trophy in 2005.

Gerrard was our favourite player because he had the ability to score from midfield.
