In October 2014, Liverpool faced Real Madrid at Anfield in the Champions League. Liverpool lost the group stage clash 3-0.

Post-game, former Red Jamie Carragher said (00:11) that he would be surprised if Balotelli was at the club come the 2015-16 season.

Carragher was correct, as Balotelli was loaned out to AC Milan for the aforementioned season. In the summer of 2016, Liverpool finally offloaded Balotelli on a permanent basis.

Nice signed the striker on a free transfer. Balotelli was a terrible signing for Liverpool. He only scored four goals in 28 appearances for the club.
