Liverpool right-back Neco Williams played for Wales yesterday, and he scored his first international goal.

Williams’ goal came against Bulgaria in the UEFA Nations League.

Williams ran into the penalty area and got on the end of Johnny Williams’ delivery. Seeing Williams score his first international goal for Wales was pleasing.

The reality is, Liverpool’s first-choice right-back in Trent Alexander-Arnold is superb going forward, despite the fact that he plays in defence.

To back that argument up, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said that Alexander-Arnold is the best attacking full-back he has seen since Cafu.

Whenever Alexander-Arnold is not playing for Liverpool, it would be nice to have a back up right-back option that can score and create. If Williams can add more going forward for Liverpool, it will make Alexander-Arnold less of a miss when he is not playing.

Now Williams has an international goal, it might give him the confidence from an attacking point of view when he is playing for the Reds. Williams is yet to score a senior goal for the Reds.
