Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has explained that he has no say in whether or not the club dips into the transfer market to improve his squad this month.
Klopp says that the transfer business in the January transfer window is out of his control as it is down to the higher-ups at the club. Liverpool have been left with a lack of options in the centre-back position following injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez this season, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho having to fill in at the back at times to cover for their injuries.
This means that it could be the board’s decision not to invest in the squad. Klopp could need to wait until the summer to be given funds to improve his team and add more depth in positions where they are lacking, like the centre-back position.
Football Daily shared the clip on Twitter, Klopp explained why he is unable to bolster his squad in the current transfer window.
🗣"I cannot decide if we do something in the transfer market or not, with this group we can play much better football"
