Spanish midfielder Thiago has earned praise for his performance on Friday, with Liverpool needing him against Aston Villa.

The Reds were level with the Villa kids at half-time as a clearly talented bunch of youngsters showed no fear to hold a below-par Liverpool performance back.

At half-time, though, things changed as Thiago came on for the Reds and quickly started dictating play, as the video below shows:

Of course, there’s no point getting too giddy about the performance given it was against opposition that was obviously massively under-strength but, even so, it highlights just the sort of class he brings that other Reds midfielders do not.

The hope will be, after another 45 minutes of football, he’s really getting back to good match sharpness now and, with Manchester United up next next weekend, he’ll be ready to play a crucial part at Anfield.
