Liverpool were really poor against Everton at Anfield last weekend. The Reds lost 2-0 to the Toffees.

It was Liverpool’s first loss to Everton at Anfield since 1999.

However, former Red Danny Murphy believes that two Liverpool players performed well against Everton last Saturday.

Murphy implied that both Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold were solid against the Toffees.

Mane told talkSPORT (22 Febuary, 12:00pm): “(Mane) was the one – he was everywhere and back to where he could be.

“(Trent) was somewhere near back to his best. He was very productive, getting in behind, his passing was superb. He was one of the only two positives at the weekend.”

We actually don’t believe that Mane played that well against Everton. The Senegal international finished the match with a WhoScored player rating of 6.34.

Mane has not had a great season to be fair. The forward has only scored 11 goals and registered five assists in 32 appearances.

Alexander-Arnold also did not perform that well against the Toffees. The right-back left Anfield on Saturday with a WhoScored player rating of 6.51.

Alexander-Arnold has only registered five assists from 29 appearances this season. Last season, the full-back registered 13 assists from 38 Premier League matches.

The aforementioned numbers highlight that Alexander-Arnold is down on form at the moment.
