Liverpool have been linked with Werner in various reports. There have been suggestions that the Reds are in advanced talks with Werner regarding a possible transfer in the summer.

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to meet Werner’s release clause of €58 million as a result.

Werner has stated that he is delighted to be linked with Liverpool, as he believes they are the best team in the world.

Werner said, as quoted by the Daily Mail: “I know that Liverpool is the best team at the moment in the world and when you are linked with that team it makes me very proud.

“It’s a pleasure but I know that Liverpool play a lot of good players and I have to improve myself and I need to learn many more things to get to that level and to play there.”

Werner, 23, would be a terrific signing. The Leipzig forward has the ability to be ruthless in front of goal, which is a trait many players lack, but he has proven he can score plenty of goals, especially this season.

Versatility is also a strength of Werner’s, which does suggest he would fit in well in Jurgen Klopp’s team

The issue is convincing Werner to start off as a squad player. The only way the German forward could become a regular in Klopp’s XI from the beginning is if Roberto Firmino were to play in behind Werner, which is certainly a possibility.
