Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently been talking about Liverpool’s interest in one particular player.

Romano has stated that Liverpool are looking at Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.

Romano added that Liverpool will consider signing Sanches come the summer.

Romano told Here We Go: “Liverpool are not looking to sign Renato Sanches in January. They are looking at him for summer. He will be one of the main targets of all the top clubs in summer just like Dayot Upamecano.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Sanches would be a really good signing for Liverpool. The midfielder is averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.89 in Ligue 1 this season.

The aforementioned figure highlights that Sanches has ability.

Sanches is also only 23 years of age, which means that he has plenty of football ahead of him.

Sanches has a current market value of €28 million. With that being the case, the Reds should be looking to purchase the midfielder for a fee of around €28 million.

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum will be a free agent come the summer if he does not sign a new deal with the Reds.

Therefore, Wijnaldum can depart the club on a free transfer.

If Wijnaldum does depart, Liverpool will need to replace him. As Sanches is a midfielder, he would be a natural replacement.

Time will tell if Liverpool’s interest in Sanches is genuine.
