Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane believes that if the Premier League season cannot be finished by the end of June, then the season should be cancelled.

That particular opinion won’t please Liverpool supporters due to the fact that the Anfield club are on the verge of winning the Premier League title.

The Reds currently possess a 25-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, which means that Liverpool are two victories away from securing the trophy.

The coronavirus has ultimately postponed the Premier League season, with matches not starting again until at least April 30th.

The FA have confirmed that they plan to complete the 2019-20 Premier League season, but nothing is guaranteed due to the uncertainty which surrounds the world at this current moment.

Kane believes that if the season cannot be completed by June, then it should simply be cancelled.

“It’s a hard one,” Kane told Jamie Redknapp on Instagram Live. “I know the Premier League are going to do everything they can to finish this season and they are going to look at every option possible.

“My personal opinion, I think we need to try and finish the season. We need to do everything to try and finish it. But there needs to be a point where enough is enough and we have to say we cannot finish it.

“Going into July, going into August and then pushing next season back. I don’t really see too much benefit in that. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes and what it means financially for certain clubs and things like that.

“From a players point of view, by all means, we need to try and finish it as much as possible, but there needs to be a limit. Probably the limit for me is the end of June. If it isn’t completed by the end of June, we almost have to say look at the options and look forward to next season.”

If the season were to be cancelled, there would be huge backlash from the Liverpool supporters. The club have not won a league title in 30 years, which is why a cancelled season would be very difficult to take.

The 2019-20 Premier League season is 29 games in. I don’t think it can be cancelled due to the fact that the season is almost complete.

When the coronavirus clears, the games need to be played for that reason, even if the matches are behind closed doors.
